Do you board?

more details.Do you rent horses?
Capricorn Equestrian only "rents" horses in the sense
that you pay to ride when you ride at our facility. We do not allow
horses to be hauled to other locations.
I’m not interested in
lessons, can I just come out and ride?
Capricorn Equestrian respects that not everyone wants to take
lessons. We are flexible and can often make arrangements for
individuals to come out and ride without lessons. However, all rides
at Capricorn are supervised arena rides and all riders
at Capricorn must sign a waiver
and abide
by stable rules for safety reasons.
What is the benefit of
taking horseback riding lessons?
There’s a lot more to horseback riding than people think.
Primarily, lessons help individuals safely ride by teaching them
proper posture, guiding and correct use of reins, legs and seat.
Horseback riding is a sport that requires both upper and lower body
strength, good reflexes and patience. Capricorn lessons are designed
to help individuals gain confidence handling and riding horses.
What will I know after the
first 5 weeks?
After taking a beginning session, the rider should know how to
saddle and bridle a horse. In beginning lessons, riding will consist
primarily of walking, trotting, stopping and turning the horse.
How old do you have to be
to take lessons?
To ride at Capricorn, individuals must be at least 6 years old.
For camps, the age required is 7 years old. Capricorn does not have
a maximum age limit.
Do you take Credit Cards?
Yes,
we accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.
I’ve ridden before, but I
want to take lessons. How do I know which class to go in?
Individuals who can saddle
and bridle a horse by themselves and who are comfortable riding can
usually go into a continuing class. Based on the individual’s
riding ability, the instructor will decide if the rider needs to be
placed at a different level. Students can also take an orientation
class for $40 to better determine placement.
What should I wear for a
riding lesson?
Although there is no set dress code, all individuals under the
age of sixteen are required to wear a riding helmet. You can
bring your own or we have them available. Long pants,
close-toed shoes preferably with a heel and a casual shirt. No
special riding outfits are needed.
What will my horse be like?
All the horses at Capricorn used for lessons are fully trained
to work with beginners through advanced.
Will I get the same horse
each lesson?
Usually, we pair a student and horse at the first lesson and
that will be the horse used for that session. For following
sessions, we may switch the horses around to give the student a
wider range of comfort in handling different horses.
Do you have private
lessons?
Yes, private lessons are available. Call
(972) 530-1124 for more information.
